• Another great month for Xactimate Pricing Department – 51 new line items!
• Historically, Xactimate was pretty limited when it came to freestanding range options. In September 2018, 21 new options were added for freestanding ranges. Thus creating space for more accurate invoices.
  Previously, there was only one size available for Remove & Reset (“R&R”) of Gas Ranges. This month Xact added a line item exclusively for R&R of large gas ranges (APPRGG>RS). This month’s changes were extremely beneficial for users in an attempt to invoice accurately, especially as it relates to kitchen appliances.
• In the DMO section, 18 line items were added to the price list. They were all related to tear-out and removal of trees, adding a wide variety of tree diameters. In addition, the user now has the option to include the tree disposal or unilaterally exclude it (informed by the line item selection). The evolution of these tree removal line items ensures that the user remains we equipped to scope accurately for tree removal activities. Previous to this change, there were only 3 options with disposal included.
• A similar line item evolution was applied to the scissor lift and forklift line items. The Pricing Department created 9 new equipment line items for boom lifts, scissor lifts and telehandler forklifts. The user now has the option to charge per week or per month now, versus the previous option of billing per day. This might create some rumblings in the marketplace (organized out of the contractor camp) but it is Actionable Insights view that these line items help champion noble claims settlement and reflect the realities of how equipment is currently being billed out by Sunbelt, United Rentals and alike.
• We finally have polystyrene trimwork!! You now have the option of crown molding and quarter round polystyrene. This is a welcome addition as these building materials are becoming more prevalent. BOOM!

Miscellaneous changes to the September 2018 price lists

• The state of Minnesota recently clarified state sales tax policies regarding taxable building cleaning and maintenance services. As a result, some sales tax jurisdictions in Minnesota were revised to reflect these updates. All “Structural and Cleaning” sales tax jurisdictions (for example, “7.125% Struc & Cln”) were updated; they now tax services which could be considered either cleaning or maintenance, including furnace cleaning and/or maintenance and sealing for mold and/or odor control.Depending on the circumstances, some pricelist items can be considered either structural remediation or a cleaning process and could be taxed differently. To accommodate various situations, we have created two job types for the existing “Structural and Cleaning” sales tax jurisdictions: “Structural/Cleaning” and “Total Tax.” Most cleaning line items will default to the “Structural/Cleaning” job type in an estimate with a “Structural and Cleaning” sales tax jurisdiction. The “Structural/Cleaning” job type calculates sales tax only on materials and cleaning services. If items in the estimate need to be taxed on the total of the line item, users can select the “Total Tax” job type. Users should research Minnesota sales tax regulation to understand when to properly apply these job types.
